Quinta da Marinha Overview

The Quinta da Marinha golf course is located to the west of Cascais and near to Lisbon. The Quinta da Marinha fairways meander through pine trees and some open ground as it is in a 110 hectares private residential estate. There is a tendency when designing Portuguese golf courses that the Par-3 holes prove to be the most challenging holes on the course for the golfer - the golf course is no exception to this rule. The fairways tend to face inland with the of the Sintra hills forming the background for the shot.

The most attractive hole on Quinta da Marinha is number three, a Par 4 of 334 metres sloping down towards the green with the sea as a backdrop. The fourth hole of a Par 3 requires a very demanding shot from the tee for the ball to cross a gap and reach a wide and shallow green. The tenth hole has a green entirely surrounded by water which again demands accuracy. The fifth hole has several protective bunkers surrounding an elevated green and water to carry. The fourteenth hole is played over a bank that presents the golfer an interesting challenge in the choice of club and type of stroke.

Twilight special
Beautiful course, well maintained. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. Greens nice and fast. Not a long course, but very narrow. The twilight special was worth it, €40 each, lovely time of day to play and the field was rather quiet. Very worth playing.

Good course, some tough holes, but fair overall
Good course, nice mix of holes with plenty of water, bunkers and wide open fairways. Navigating can be a little difficult, with several cross-overs and a difficult to find path off the 18. Would recommend an outing for sure.

Nice and smooth course.
The course itself was quite enjoyable. A few tricky faiways for first timer. Needs proper clubhouse with lockers. Now it serves best the hotel residents.

Friendly golf-architecture
Nice course. Not in good condition: hard and bare fairway spots, bunkers lack sand, bumpy roads for trolleys etc . In this condition far too high green fee !

It’s quirky. The T box next to the green is unlikely to be the next one. But it’s a good course and has some challenges.
